A Project Administrator for Transport for London, Street Management by profession Sanchia is among 21 new recruits from the diverse British minority ethnic community, who are enlisted this year as a Parliamentary Ambassador by Operation Black Vote (OBV) in conjunction with the British Electoral Commission.

Under the programme, Sanchia is shadowing Labour MP for Tooting Sadiq Khan, to gain an in-depth insight into the inner workings of parliamentary life. This signifies a major milestone of Operation Black Vote (OBV), which aims at engaging more individuals from ethnic groups into the political arena.

Sanchia was born in St. James, Jamaica and grew up in London England. As part of her commitment to making a positive contribution to Jamaica, she was selected despite considerable competition to take part in the inaugural Grace Kennedy Jamaican Birthright Programme. (The Grace Kennedy Jamaican Birthright Programme is an all expenses paid cultural and professional internship geared at highlighting all aspects of Jamaican life, while furthering the career goals of the participants. It is designed to give the successful candidates a well-rounded Jamaican experience)

Sanchia is actively engaged with the equalities agenda and undertakes the following duties in equalities:

University of London Union – Race Equality officer
British Transport Police – Independent Advisory network member on diversity issues
Transport for London – Joint Chair, Black and Asian staff network group
National Union of Students – Black students committee
Race Equality in Newham – Membership panel
Sanchia holds a Diploma in Business Administration, a BSc in Politics and Sociology from Brunel University and has just completed her MSc in Politics, Policy and Government at Birkbeck College, University of London.

Her philosophy in life is, “If at first you don’t succeed try, try and try again”.

In her spare time Sanchia enjoys reading, writing and singing and attends the Church of God 7 th day in Hackney, East London.
